FAQ

Q: Are the colors the same as the original round?

A: Yes, GMK Chocolatier 2 reuses the same base colors from the previous run. The only small change is on the yellow accent keys: instead of using black for the legends, they will now feature dark brown.

Q: Will there be an International kit?

A: The production of an International Kit ultimately depends on demand, which has historically been quite low for these specific kits. If available, it will likely be offered directly through the GMK store. Full layout coverage for Danish, Finnish, German, Norwegian, Swedish, and Alt Gr keys would be included.

Q: What is the estimated time of arrival (ETA)?

A: GMK currently estimates a lead time of around 12 weeks after the purchase order is officially received and approvals are finalized. The keycaps are estimated to arrive in Q3 2026.

Q: How will the keycaps be packaged?

A: The Core kit will be individually sorted and packed in custom GMK trays, housed inside a decorative sleeve/box, and shrinkwrapped. The Extension kit will also come individually sorted and packed in trays, and will be shrinkwrapped to ensure the keys arrive safely.

Q: Will there be any further stretch goals?

A: We have already built in a stretch goal to include blue accent keys at 500 MOQ for the Core kit and 150 MOQ for the Extension kit. While no additional stretch goals are officially confirmed at this time, we may consider them if the group buy performs exceptionally well.

Q: Why do some vendors refer to this group buy as a "pre-order"?

A: We are working with a highly reputable, well-established manufacturer, and many of our vendors are absolutely committed to making this set happen. Because the risk of the set not being made is virtually zero, many vendors have shifted from using the term "group buy" to "pre-order." Consequently, the phase where vendors sell their allocated extra stock before it arrives is now often called an "extras pre-order."

Q: What is the rationale behind the kitting for Chocolatier 2?

A: Over the last few years, standard base kits have become bloated with niche layout support and alienating newcomers. To keep the hobby approachable, Chocolatier 2 deliberately limits the size of the Core to essential layouts. Hardcore enthusiasts with specialized boards can simply add the Extension, keeping the base price more affordable for the average user.

Q: Why the stretch goals?

A: Stretch goals are designed to incentivize people to join during the active group buy period. Reaching these unlocks extra keycaps for all participants at no additional cost.

Q: Why should I buy from a regional vendor, and who are they?

A: Purchasing from your designated regional vendor is highly recommended because it helps you avoid hefty international shipping fees, unexpected tariffs, import duties, or additional GST/VAT upon delivery.

GMK Chocolatier 2 regional vendors are:

TH: Aiglatson Studio
CA: Deskhero
SG: iLumkb
CN: KBDFans
AU: Keyboard Treehouse
KR: KLC Hobbyists' Playground
US: Novelkeys
EU: Oblotzky Industries
UK: Proto[Typist]

Q: GMK Chocolatier 2 or GMK CYL Chocolatier 2, what's that?

A: You might see this set listed under a few slightly different names across various vendors, such as "GMK Chocolatier 2," "GMK Chocolatier 2 (CYL)," or "GMK CYL Chocolatier 2". The "CYL" simply stands for "Cylindrical." GMK uses this tag to differentiate their classic, original Cherry Cylindrical profile (1-1-2-3-4-4) from their newer profiles, like MTNU. Regardless of which of these acceptable names a vendor uses on their storefront, they all refer to the exact same keycap set.

Q: What's the deal with GMK's doubleshot ABS?

A: GMK has outstanding color matching and is capable of achieving very vivid colors. The "doubleshot" process means that the legends will never fade as the keycap and the legend insert are molded using two separate resins.
